Previous Land of Band Files

Good News

This past week we got the “Green Light” to be back inside for our class periods and what a difference it is!  We are extremely grateful to be back inside, with social distancing of course, and rehearse in a semi normal setting.  Because of the restrictions starting to loosen, we will be starting to plan for a Spring Concert.  More details to come with this new information and opportunity with the students.  Thank you so much for the flexibility and commitment shown through this year.

Band Picture Day

This past Saturday, we had a successful “drive-up” picture day for the Band and Color Guard.  A huge thank you goes out to Artistryfoto for being so flexible and getting our students photographed in a safe and efficient manner. We will be in touch with Stephen from Artistryfoto about the possibility of make up photos.

#letthemperform and #letthemplaytoo

Last week at our Booster Meeting, we spoke about the lack of equity between guidelines for athletics vs the arts, and it was great to hear how supportive our band parents are. I know many of you have written emails to our district administration, and your voices have been heard! We did receive a positive response to some of your letters and were told that we should be receiving some guidelines this week. As Orange County moves to the Red Tier, things should be moving forward quickly.

Please note that we want athletics to get back to normal so that those kids can participate in the activities that they love. We just want the same thing for band, color guard, choir, and theater arts!!

Inspired!

This past week we have found inspiration from our STUDENTS! There have been many opportunities this past week for students to show us that they are keeping up with their performance skills when it comes to our program. The concert bands during 0 period are sounding great, individual FlipGrid videos have been performed well, jazz students are playing great improvised solos, the color guard members recorded their performance over the weekend, and I even heard winter percussion from afar jamming at school!  We hope that everyone can continue this work as we get through this pandemic. Yes, part of it is for our program’s sake, but mostly for your INDIVIDUAL mental and physical sake. Play, perform, and enjoy music and dance and movement for the sake of your own enjoyment!

Keep up the great work!!!

Booster Meeting

We will have our monthly Booster meeting on

Tuesday, Mar. 9th
 at 7:30pm

A Zoom link will be sent out just before the meeting.
We look forward to seeing everyone there.

Winter Guard

Congratulations to the In-Persion AND Virtual Winter Guards!

Both groups spent Saturday rehearsing and recording their 2021 show. This recording will be submitted to WGASC for evaluation and commentary. Most importantly, it was great for the students to get dressed up, warm up, and perform like they were at a real show! Hopefully this is a sign for great things to come!

Mr. Perez, VHS Assistant Band Director

As many of you know, our good friend Peter Perez, Assistant Band Director from Valencia HS, passed away a few weeks ago due to complications from Covid-19. I spent the weekend in Oxnard with a few close friends and his family to honor him and say our goodbyes. His high school Band Director was in attendance, as well as a few former students. It helped remind me of how important it is to be a part of a program like band. The impact we have on each other goes far beyond music. As always, I am grateful for all of our students, parents, and staff who are involved in our program, and I look forward to spending more time with you in the near future. Please, if you are struggling during this time, please reach out and we’ll figure out a time to hangout on Zoom. Trust me, I could use it to!

Google Classroom and Flip Grid

As we continue on in the semester, all band students will be assigned simple projects and video performances in Google Classroom. We will continue to use FlipGrid for videos. If for some reason FlipGrid isn’t working for you, please find an alternative such as uploading a video to the Google Classroom Assignment.

Thank You!

Thank you to all who participated in the first ever “And The Beat Goes On” Virtual 5K! Whether registered to participate, donated, or helped spread the word, we were able to raise over $9000 for our program! In this day and age, this is HUGE! We look forward to seeing everyone’s results in the race. But the true winner is our program!

A special thank you goes out to Andy Shomph  for organizing this fundraiser. Even though his son graduated last year, he stayed on to get this fundraiser off the ground, and we are very thankful!  And thank you to all of the Booster Volunteers who helped with advertising and medal/t-shirt distribution!

Zoom Presence

For all students who are on Zoom, please continue to take the following steps and suggestions to help with your online presence. Doing so will help us as teachers connect with you, to monitor your engagement, and to see that you are involved.

  1. Please be framed well on your screen with your instrument/equipment.
    • Most of you have a nice forehead, but that’s not what we want to see.
    • Watching your ceiling fan makes us dizzy. Please don’t make us dizzy.
  2. Adjust your lighting so that we can see you.
    • I appreciate different colored light bulbs but only when I am at a theme park or at the club. Please use standard lighting or the sun during Zoom.
    • Being in a pitch-black room isn’t conducive to learning. Turn your lights on.
  3. Be involved in the chat when asked and fill out Google Forms.
    • I have seen you text. I know you can type. Use the chat.
    • Google Forms/Docs is in style. Use them. This is the way.

If I think of more suggestions, I’ll add them to this list next week. Looking forward to more Zoom time with all of my favorite students!

Gruv Gear Fundraiser

Thank you and Sad News

Last week I celebrated my 46th birthday on February 4th. Thank you to the many students and families who reached out with birthday greetings. It truly made my day special!

On the other hand, I wanted to share with you that our dear friend, Peter Perez, passed away on Monday morning from complications due to Covid. Mr. Perez has been the Assistant Band Director at Valencia High School since the 90’s where he taught woodwinds, marching band, and ran the jazz program. He was an amazing educator and his groups were always phenomenal. He was always a huge fan of El Dorado and without fail would always express his fondness of our program. It was common for him to share his love with us after a field tournament or at a jazz festival. It was never about competition for him, but rather camaraderie among our programs. On a personal note, I had the opportunity to work with him for 7 years while I was the percussion instructor at VHS. Since then, we became very close and our families spent a lot of time together. He will truly be missed by many, but I am thankful for the positive impact he has had on thousands of people during his time as an educator and musician.  He was a good friend and more importantly a loving husband and father.

It’s during these times when I encourage my students to enjoy the people they have in their lives, be grateful for all that you have, work hard for the things you want to have, and take lots of pictures along the way. I continue to hope and pray for everyone’s health and safety during this time.

Thank you for your cooperation and support of our award-winning program!  You are each a vital part of the great success our kids enjoy as part of the El Dorado Golden Hawks Band & Color Guard!

Let’s Go Hawks!

1/31/21

Second Semester Begins

2nd Semester begins this week!

Traditionally, we have met in separate concert bands with each director. We will continue to do that but will also exercise flexibility in our ensembles to give ourselves the opportunity to explore alternative ensembles based on who is in-person and who is in Zoom. Our main focus this semester will be improvement in individual musicianship/skill level while attempting to have ensemble rehearsals. This will be a great time for all of our members to find areas to improve upon and to build on those skills. We look forward to a great 2nd semester!

Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band Placements

If you haven’t done so already, please see the Concert Band Placements PDF’s in the Marching Band Google Classroom. All students who have completed the Concert Band Audition Video have been placed into one of the Concert Bands. Both groups will be sharing musical repertoire while playing level-based music as well. This week, all students will be placed in the “Wind Ensemble” course for 0 period even if you have been assigned to the Symphonic Band.

Rosters will be split between the directors as follows:
All Students are enrolled in 0 period “Wind Ensemble”

Actual Band: Wind Ensemble, Mr. Samson
Actual Band: Symphonic Band, Mr. Vrooman

Monday and Tuesday 0 period

All in-person students will meet together in the Zone.

All remote students will use the Samson Zoom link as usual.

SCSBOA Recognition

This weekend I was the recipient of the “Gold Award” from the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association (SCSBOA). This award has recognized excellence in music education for at least 10 years. It was truly an honor to receive this award and to be recognized among my peers. However, I cannot go on without saying THANK YOU to the students, staff, boosters, and families who believed in my vision and who worked so tirelessly by my side. You are a huge part of this award. I am forever appreciative of you and honored to be a part of this program.

 Thank you,

No School Monday!

In observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birthday, there is no school on Monday, January 18. Enjoy some extra time off but please take a moment to be grateful for all that you have. I am truly thankful to be a part of a program and activity that allows students from all walks of life to thrive and to experience success. I look forward to the day when we can all be together again and do what we do! In the meantime, thank you to all for your continued support.

Finances

This past year has been tough on all of us in different ways. The loss of the “normal” is our biggest loss. In a traditional school year, all Marching Band fees would have been paid by now. I’m writing to let you know a large portion of the Marching Band have not completed paying their Fair-Share for this year.

We have moved on to the Winter and Spring groups, but the missing funds from the Marching Season is greatly impacting what the Boosters can do to pay the staff, and provide the best experience for our students during this time.

If you have not completed making your Marching Band Fair-Share payments, please keep making payments… the money you provide will allow us to continue to provide the support you have come to expect and the students deserve.

The Fair-Share for Winter Guard, and Winter Drum Line is now coming due please keep up with these, as you work to complete the marching Fair-Share.

Payments can be made via PayPal, check or Venmo.  Please contact me at finance@eldoradoband.com if you have any questions.

Ken Ostaszewski

Wrapping Up the Semester

It’s hard to believe that we are closing in on the end of the semester. Connecting with each and every one of you has been challenging, but we are doing our best given the situation. I encourage you to keep engaging in class, whether in-person or remote, and to continue to develop your performance skills by practicing.

DON’T WAIT TO BE MOTIVATED!! Sometimes, especially now, motivation won’t always be there. You just have to get going! Get out your instrument and practice. Go in the back yard and spin your flag. Find a YouTube music backing track to play along to. Once you “get going”, you will find MOTIVATION within yourself!

Trust me on this one, I go through it every day….

Happy Thanksgiving Break!

Thanksgiving Break is upon us and I’m sure you are looking forward to some well deserved time off. This year brought us new challenges, but I am very grateful to have still been involved with all of our students, staff, and boosters regardless of the situation. I hope that you find time to relax and enjoy your break with your family. We have much to be thankful for so don’t be afraid to express your gratitude to each other.

 Have a Wonderful Thanksgiving!

(We will create a Thanksgiving photo album in BandApp!)

 Practice!

I highly recommend that you find time to practice your instrument or color guard skills. We have worked hard to keep our “chops” up and taking a week off would not be great for your progress! And when I say practice, I mean practice for fun! Play some etudes. Spin your rifle. Do it for the joy of your skill! Not a lot of people can do what you do!!

Holiday Music

Jazz Bands have already received Holiday Music to work on. We will be uploading holiday music for the Concert Bands in Google Classroom on Monday. Check it out and get a head start on it!

I encourage you to add to your circle of earnings – your family and friends buying the things they buy everyday can help you and Eldo BCG reach critical fundraising goals.

Blessings,
Lori

Positive IMPACT!

Although we have only had a few in-person rehearsals, it has already had a positive impact on many people. We have received many kind words from students and families within our band and color guard community who appreciate getting out of the house and enjoying a traditional Monday night!

I have also received some messages from staff and community members who heard the Drumline rehearsing at El Dorado High School on Wednesday afternoon.

One teacher sent me a message and said, “I literally got chills when I was leaving campus today and heard the drumline in the distance! I miss them!”

Another coach sent me a text and said, “Can you ask the drumline to move? They are loud!”. So yes, things are starting to get back to normal!

Thank you to everyone for your continued effort!

For those who continue to choose to join us through our live-stream, no problem! Keep up the great work online!

Thank You!

Thank you to everyone who helped to make our first rehearsal this past Monday night a successful one. With 83% of our students joining us live and 17% of our students joining us through our live-stream via Zoom, we were able to teach our marching band in the manner that we are used to. Plus, it was great to get out and be around each other! I enjoyed all of our air hugs and virtual high fives! We look forward to another fun evening tomorrow night! (Monday, Oct. 19).

Booster President Message

Dear Booster Families,

Many of you know that a generator was stolen a couple of weeks ago from one of our trailers.  We announced this at our Booster Meeting last Tuesday, and since then, with the help of Celeste Staggs and Jessica Bartolotti, the community has quickly responded and we have received donations to enable us to replace the generator as well as purchase some more secure locks for the trailers. We received $1000 in the name of the late CoachTerry Conley from his wife, Mary Ann Conley.  Also, Eric Van Lanen, a current El Dorado parent, has offered a donation on behalf of his company. We have an awesome and very supportive community!  If you happen to know either of these people, please thank them for their kindness. Thanks to all of you for your continued support!

Return to In-Person Rehearsals

As mentioned in BandApp, we have been given the green light to have in-person live rehearsals!

After weeks of discussion, questions, and patience, PYLUSD has determined that Marching Bands are allowed to begin in-person rehearsals. Even though competitions and tournaments have been canceled this season, this will allow us to begin teaching Marching Band fundamentals to our students.

We will plan on having our first full-ensemble rehearsal at Bradford Stadium on Monday, October 12 from 6p-9p.

Section rehearsals TBD (Color Guard, Percussion, Brass/Woodwind)

Our staff is eager and ready to get back to work and have been busy preparing and creating material to have a smaller-scale version of a field show. Since our initial announcement, more revisions to the process have been made. Please continue to read on to get an idea of what to expect.

 ________________________________________

 In-Person Rehearsals

  1. All students are expected to participate.
    1. We would obviously like all students to participate in live rehearsals.
    2. Students who do not feel comfortable with participating live will be asked to participate via Zoom in order to access information. We will send out a Google Form Questionnaire to get an accurate count of who will be participating live or remotely.
    3. When Hybrid Instruction begins in November, students who plan on staying in distance learning will still be able to participate in rehearsals outside of the school day.
  2. Live Rehearsal and Social Distancing
    1. We will have staggered arrival and departure times to and from rehearsal and will utilize the different entrances/exits around Bradford to minimize contact between students.
    2. Students will be placed in cohorts (determined by instrumentation) of 14 students or less and will remain in those cohorts for the duration of the rehearsal. Cohorts will remain consistent in future rehearsals.
    3. Cohorts will be spread out around the field.
    4. Staff will instruct from a distance like the track and stadium bleachers.
    5. Students who elect to attend via Zoom will be expected to participate in the activity with cameras on as if they were at the rehearsal.
    6. For now, parents will not be allowed to observe rehearsal from the stands.
  3. Goals of rehearsals
    1. To begin incorporating the kinesthetic aspect and conditioning of Marching Band.
    2. Color Guard will continue to work on equipment skill development and choreography.
    3. Winds and Percussion will begin working on Marching Basics.
    4. Percussion will begin playing as it pertains to their instruments.
    5. We are not able to have our Wind Section play yet. We will continue to work on this and hope to get clearance for them to begin playing soon. The district is working on purchasing bell covers for all instruments.
  4. Program Goals
    1. First and foremost, our goal is to continue the legacy of excellence of our program by educating our students in the area of Marching Band.
    2. Our staff is committed to teaching marching basics, choreography, vocabulary, rehearsal etiquette, basics of drill, etc in order to maintain the culture of our program.
    3. We will attempt to produce a small version of a field show with socially distanced drill confined to the cohorts and hope to be able to record a performance of it and share it digitally. If we are able to perform it live at the end of the marching season, we will look at opportunities to do so. At this time, we are not clear on how to incorporate students into these performance possibilities who choose to participate via Zoom. We will continue to explore these options.

Join us for an Optional Parent Meeting via Zoom to discuss In-Person Rehearsals

Wednesday, October 7 – 7pm

We will send out the Zoom link just before the meeting.

As we continue with distance learning, we encourage you to show your participation by having your videos on in all of your classes as well as show yourself on your screen! Thank you to those who chose to turn their videos on. It certainly helps us to be more effective in our teaching!

Zoom Tips for Students

(Parents, please read)

We want all of our students to be successful during distance learning. In order for that to happen, we made some observations during our first week of school. Here are some tips that can help you facilitate learning:

  1. Be in the waiting room 5 minutes early so we can let you in and start right away.
  2. Try to make your screen presentable! Check your lighting, your background, and frame. Your teachers want to see and interact with you. It’s hard to do that when we just see your silhouette. It doesn’t have to be a movie set, but just clear!
  3. During times of physical participation, please have your videos on. We understand that this may affect your wifi strength. If it does, please let us know.
  4. If you have any technical issues, please let us know right away.
  5. Most importantly! Avoid side conversations on other devices with other students!
    • It is very tempting and easy to have side conversations via text message on your devices and quite often, we can tell if you are having them. We are working extremely hard to prepare to instruct online and find it very distracting when we see students having there own thing going on. Ask yourself, “Would I be doing this during a normal band rehearsal?” If the answer is “No”, don’t do it in our Zooms! Ultimately, it comes down to how you carry yourself as a student and since we would normally hold you to a very high standard, we expect your best. We will not hesitate to request a parent conference with individual students if this continues.
  6. That’s it for now!

Color Guard, and Jazz Bands.

In addition, deposits that have been received have been recorded as
well. For future deposits, please give me a week to see it reflected in
Charms. If you don’t see it, drop me an email.

I ask that everyone try to log into Charms to verify they can log in,
and that their passwords are reset for the new requirements. As a
reminder, the new requirements are:

At least 8 characters.
A combination of alpha/numeric characters.
One capital letter.

Here is the link to the Parent/Student area.

https://www.charmsoffice.com/charms/parents.asp?username=ElDoradoBand

If you are unable to log into charms using their student ID as their
username, please drop me an email with your student’s name and student
ID number.  This will let me make sure they had the user ID’s and
passwords reset. I’ll let you know when it has been fixed.

Fair Share

There have been many questions regarding our “Fair Share”. Our “Fair Share” has allowed us to develop and maintain our program throughout the years. Although our Marching Band performances (football games, tournaments, championships) have been canceled due to Covid-19, we have not canceled the Golden Hawk Marching Band.

We have gone through our budget and eliminated many things that pertained to our Marching Season such as transportation costs, entrance fees to tournaments, food, show design, etc and are not requiring students to purchase shoes, marching band performance apparel (undergear), and other things of that nature. Unfortunately, we have also let go of some staff members who have joined us over the past few years. Luckily, they understand the situation and are hoping to join us again next year.

During this time, we are still obligated to run this program as best as we can which still comes at a cost that the school district does not pay for. The “Fair Share” covers things like current Visual/Percussion/Color Guard staff, instrument repair, purchase of new music, administrative fees for our Booster Organization, etc. Although we still have a “Fair Share” it is significantly less than what it usually is for a typical Marching Season.

I know this is a difficult time for everyone. Our Booster Board has come up with different payment options to help any situation. Of course, we will continue to have opportunities to fund raise for our program throughout the year.

The El Dorado Marching Band staff is committed to providing each and every member of our program with a superior level education in the Marching Arts throughout the year, even if it means we have to teach through a computer screen. We are currently working on performance opportunities for our Marching Band. Whether it’s live or virtual, we do not know yet. But as we always say, “It’s not about the trophies, it’s about the journey.” I know we will get through this rough part of our journey together.

For more information on Fair Share and how to make a payment, you can scroll down to “2020 Fair Share”.

2020 Fair Share

$425

Fair Share Payment Options
We know it can be difficult at the beginning of the year to cover expenses, so here are 3 examples of how you can organize your payments to enable you to pay your Fair Share in the method most convenient for your family.
● Plan 1 – Payment in full by, August 14th.
● Plan 2 – 50%  by August 14th,  and the remaining 50% by Sept. 1st.
● Plan 3 – 25% by Aug. 14th,  25% by Sept. 1st, and 25% by Oct. 1st, and the remaining 25% by Nov 2nd.

Again, these are just suggestions that can help keep your payments organized.

If you need different arrangements or have questions about your band finances,  please contact our Finance Secretary, Ken Ostaszewski at finance@eldoradoband.com.
_____________________________________________

There are 3 ways to pay your Fair Share:

Venmo– You can now make payments through Venmo!

We have already had quite a few people make payments for various things like drumline shirts, band yearbooks, and fall participation contributions!

El Dorado Band Boosters Venmo

@ElDorado-BandBoosters

This should make it easier for you to make payments throughout the school year! Please be sure to note who your student is and what the payment is for. For example, “color guard payment” or “show shirt” etc.
PayPal– El Dorado High School Band Boosters, Inc.
Go to  http://www.eldoradoband.com/paypal to make a payment through PayPal.

or,

Mail–  Make checks out to: El Dorado Band Boosters, include your student’s name and that the check is for Fair Share, and mail it to:
El Dorado Band Boosters

– If school opens this fall, your checks can be dropped into the Black Box located near the entrance inside the Band room.
Don’t forget, your Fair Share Participation Contributions are Tax Deductible!  The Treasurer (treas@eldoradoband.com) can provide tax donation letters at the end of the year, if requested.  And if any of your employers offer charitable donation matching, we also qualify for those programs and would appreciate any corporate donations!
Remember, if you have any questions regarding registration, don’t hesitate to contact me at
vpres@eldoradoband.com.
Thank you,
Gina Brown

Finance

Hello and welcome to a new school year! My name is Ken Ostaszewski, and I am taking over as Financial Secretary this year. My daughter, Wendy, is in 11th grade and plays trombone in the Marching Band, as well as Jazz 1. For the past few years, I’ve been helping out with the MIB (Men In Black) with schlepping props and large instruments to competitions. Bear with me as I get up to speed. I am still in the process of updating/reviewing returning student’s registrations, and adding the Freshmen into the Charms portal.

For new parents, Charms is the web portal that allows you to see your students information, and balances due. I’ll let you know in a later LOB when their accounts are ready.

For returning students, some students have credits from the cancelled events of last school year. I am checking on what was recorded as a credit on their accounts, and making sure they are correct. Due to this credit, your balance due for this year may be affected. In addition, Charms has updated its password requirements. When you first try to log into Charms, it will take you to a screen to setup your new password.

The new requirements are:

  • At least 8 characters.
  • A combination of alpha/numeric characters.
  • One capital letter.

Land of Band and Color Guard****Please read this entire email.  There is a lot of important information regarding band registration, Fair Share, and the Virtual Band Camp.

Virtual Band Camp Begins
We begin our “Virtual Band Camp” (VBC) this week! Although we would love to meet live in person on campus, we are not able to do so due to Covid-19. However, that will not stop us from learning, progressing, and most of all, from being a part of the Golden Hawks Marching Band!

Details, Details, Details!
General
Winds and Percussion will meet at the same time.
Color Guard will join Winds/Perc for a short time in the morning and then will have their own rehearsal block with the CG staff.
During our Zoom sessions, we will move into pre-determined Breakout Rooms.
You must log-in with your SCHOOL EMAIL ADDRESS in order for the Breakout Rooms to work.
Zoom links will be posted in the Marching Band Google Classroom in the morning.
Please do not share these links outside of our organization.
If you have not joined the G-Classroom, please do so now.

Have it ready just in case.
If you don’t have one already, download a Running Tracker App onto your Smartphone.
We will be using it to log our physical training. I suggest “Map My Fitness”, “Nike Run Club” or “Runkeeper”.
There are many out there. If you already have one that tracks distance, time, and shows a map, feel free to use it!
If you are unable to do this, please let me know and we’ll figure something else out. Afternoon Music Block

Land of Band and Color Guard – Summer Update 7/12/20

Summer Update!

I hope you are enjoying your summer!

You deserve some time off after an eventful and crazy school year.

Please take some time to read this email. It will contain a lot of information regarding communication, band camp, and the upcoming school year.

Band Camp

Band Camp is still scheduled for August 10th-14th and August 17th-21st.

We hope that we will be able to hold our band camp on campus. If that is a possibility, we will have some different ways to approach our camp based on a “summer safety plan”, but we will begin preparing for the school year!

If we are not able to meet on campus…

Band Camp will go Virtual!

Yes, you read that correctly! We will still meet online and go through marching basics, conditioning, music, choreography, etc.

Stay tuned for details!

Marching Band

If you haven’t heard by now, the 2020 SCSBOA Marching Band Championships have been canceled due to Covid-19. This is devastating news for the Marching Arts and for our program. It is always a great experience for the programs that participate in it and is a huge loss for our fall season experience.

However…

WE ARE NOT CANCELING MARCHING BAND!

We will still have a marching band season but will have to work within the parameters that are given to us. Our band staff is dedicated to teaching you everything we normally would about marching, color guard, and music. The only difference will be in the complexity of show design and our performance venue. We will be working through these details in the next few weeks as we approach “Band Camp”. We appreciate your patience during this time. We, as a staff, have never been through this before, so it’s terrifying but exciting! We are looking forward to the challenge and hope you will be along for the ride!

In the meantime….

Practice your instrument or color guard skills!

Get out and exercise!

Eat nutritiously and hydrate often!

Stay positive!

***An email containing Band and Color Guard registration paperwork and information will be sent out in the next couple of weeks.

Google Classroom Update

Venmo

You can now make payments through Venmo!

We have already had quite a few people make payments for various things like drum line shirts, band yearbooks, and fall participation contributions!

El Dorado Band Boosters Venmo

@ElDorado-BandBoosters

This should make it easier for you to make payments throughout the school year! Please be sure to note who your student is and what the payment is for. For example, “color guard payment” or “show shirt” etc.

Athletic Clearance for 2020-21 School Year

If you are a returning member, don’t forget to make an appointment with your Doctor for a physical and to get your Pre-Participation Physical form filled out and signed. If for some reason, you aren’t able to get in to see your Doctor, or are having trouble accessing healthcare, click on the link below that will take you to a letter from the district office with a list of medical facilities that are offering Pre-Participation Physicals.  There you’ll find contact information as well as pricing for their service.  The completed and signed form is required for Band Camp, so don’t put it off until the last minute.

Once you’ve got your physical form signed, please make 2-3 copies of it.  We need one for our band records, and you should keep one for yourself just in case.  Also, you will need another copy to turn in to the office if you are planning to play on a sport team.  Hold on to your completed form until we start band registration.

Ways and Means

Here are some of the things you can do right now to help:

1. Use Shop With Scrip – even if you just use for groceries and gas it will go a long way.  Add in your Target, Walmart and fast food runs and you will be well on your way to minimizing your direct cash outlay.  Many are ScripNow and can be loaded into your virtual ‘wallet’ on your smartphone – or you can always printout if you prefer.  Questions?  Contact Lori scrip@eldoradoband.com .

2When you shop at Ralph’s be sure to use Community Rewards.

3. Please remember to use Amazon Smile for all your Amazon purchases.  In the search we are listed as El Dorado High School Band Boosters Inc.

4.  Closet Clean Out?   Unfortunately, our Savers Fundrive will not be scheduled before September.  It would be great if you could set aside and save your clothing and household discards until then and of course, we will let you know as soon as we have it scheduled.

5. Read every issue of Land of Band

6. Volunteer when you can.

If you have any questions please contact fundraisingeldo@gmail.com
